On January 1st, I like to kick off the new year by enjoying foods and activities that align with how I want to feel in the coming 12 months. Today, that includes yoga, and plenty of green foods, especially because the color green represents wealth—whether that relates to your health, relationship, to money, to career, to creativity, to an abundance of  opportunities is up to you.

I’m changing things up from my usual New Years resolution routine and focusing on a word this year instead of a “must-do” list. For me, that word is: Live.

As in, continue to build the life I want and give myself space to live in it.

I also have some specific financial goals. I’m curious to see if having numbers to work with will affect how I go about reaching those goals.

2016 was very much about work for me, but I definitely slacked on the “life” part of the work-life balance. I recently shared my closet-cleansing mantra to actually live in my clothes and only buy items that fit right into my current life rather than do what I’d been doing before: buying stuff that represented experiences I wanted to have but wasn’t having. In 2017, I want to focus on enjoying my life (and on not feeling guilty for loving my work!) and on making self-care as part of my usual routine. I got a lot better at this in the second half of 2016, so rather than assign myself some arbitrary goal, I’m choosing what feels most authentic and valuable.

Oh, and did you here that Pantone named “Greenery” their official Color of the Year for 2017?

Green is a very alive color to me, so today I want to share some of my favorite green recipes with you. Aside from the fact that a lot of green foods are loaded with good-for-you vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients like fiber and antioxidants, join me in making green foods part of your day to kick off a new year in which you experience a sense of health, wealth, and abundance—whatever that means to you.
